Mail Survey Data Entry

Collecting data using a paper survey or surveys sent in the mail is still a very cost-effective methodology.

Mail surveys typically cost less than data collection using other methodologies. They also are less intrusive allowing the respondent to respond on their own time schedule- no nuisance telephone call as you sit down for your dinner.

While the response rate for mail surveys is typically lower, this response rate is often increased by use of incentives and use of multiple mailings.

Data Entry is required to transcribe the data from the survey mail form. To assure close to 100% accuracy of keyed data two operators key the same data. These two data sets are then compared and a third QC operator corrects the data. Additional validation rules and skip rules are often built into the data collection program to assure high accuracy of data. Very often public opinion surveys also contain free form data responses that require accurate data keying. Additional quality checks may be required to cleanse data from free form responses.

ARDEM clients send their mail surveys to us for data entry. The surveys are either batched and sent to us, or, mailed directly to our PO Box. Surveys are removed from envelopes and scanned. All data is double-keyed. Quality and data validation checks are performed. Where required open end responses are coded. Final data sets in desired file format is delivered back to the client.
