ARDEM Inc. Public Policy Survey Services -Implementation, Scanning, Data Entry and Processing of Public Policy Surveys

Public Policy surveys are the most widely used surveys that are still done using a paper based medium. This is due to the fact that it is an amazing way to check the “pulse” of the community and obtain information regarding the residents. Direct mail public policy surveys are used by organizations that need to data-track their programs for development and reporting reasons. Organizations that need to obtain opinions and thoughts regarding a program or status of an area find much value in a mail survey for various reasons.
As time is moving forward more popular survey mediums, telephone and web-based surveys, are proving to be less and less effective when it comes to public policy polling. This is due to the fact that not as many people have land lines. From a cost saving point, just having a cell phone proves to be more economical, thusly less people are able to be reached by telephone surveying; since mobile numbers aren’t listed. Even when it is used, it can be argued that a true random sampling is not obtained by utilizing a telephone survey. Web-surveys are also out for public policy because large majorities of the population, who are actively voting or show interest in the issues being polled, either don’t have internet access or they are not technologically apt enough to complete the survey.
Clearly, telephone and web-based surveys are not the best tools for organizations that are looking to conduct a public policy survey. The answer is a mail survey. Mail surveys have the ability to reach the people who are interested, can come along with an incentive (either information or money), give confidence that a random sampling is being worked with (since addresses are publicly available), not to mention a higher capability of covering the lists of items to be rated. Telephone surveys simply get messy and confusing for the respondent, on the other end.
Public policy mail surveys still have to be handled properly in order to be successful. The questions have to be designed in the right fashion and it has to be aesthetically pleasing; but most important it has to be implemented properly. The fulfillment and processing has to be done by an experienced vendor who can delivery accurate representations of the collected data and provide added value.
